Excel-ing

May 23, 2007 at 7:20 am (School)

Today I managed to roll out of bed at quarter past eleven in the morning, despite the fact that I had only gone to sleep approximately four hours earlier. The only reason I even bothered to face the light of day is because I had to make the thirty minute trek to school so I could do my test on Excel. Yes, yes, most people are like, “A test on…EXCEL?!”. Well, yeah, actually I’m not very proficient at it, but I think I did enough to scrape through with more than a fifty percent pass rate. It is a TAFE course after all, it’s not like it’s all that hard and honestly, this basic computer subject is a little (or a lot) below my level. But if I can say I have the proficiency, with proof, when I write up my resume and go for a job then what the hell. I actually feel smart doing this course – I even know enough to actually participate in class! Anyone who went to school with me in the past would know how much I loath participation. So far I’ve been getting pretty decent grades, one might even say GOOD grades. I feel so…intellectual for the first time in about four years. Goodbye accounting and hello human resources. This is definitely more my thing.

Tomorrow both my teachers have “meetings”, so there will be substitutes to replace them, which means that my presence will be lacking. Also, apparently the morning tea has been postponed until next Tuesday. I guess that’s a good thing. More time was just what we needed anyway.
